Grover’s 4000 - Update Day 18
4000km In 31 Days.
To all the Grover’s 4000 supporters and those that have donated to either Liam, Tony, Murray or myself let me tell you we are smashing the KMs en route to 4000.
It’s been a big weekend with some of the following highlights.
Liam - Back to Back rides on both Saturday 61km and Sunday 52.0k to boost his totals to 624.0km. This is a huge effort for a bloke that is on the road to Melbourne for work five days a week.
Murray - Joined Liam for back to back rides as well as accumulating a 61.6km ride and a 55.1km trek.
Murray now sits at 764.6km and will have no issues in pushing to 1000 in the next 13 days.
Matt (yours truly) earned a day off today (Sunday) after belting out a PB of 127.7km on Day 17. A great ride into the Crit Track to meet the boys and smash a few laps before a return trip back to Curlewis. My totals currently sit at 877.1km and with only 123km to go to the target.
The story of the weekend however goes to our Professor, Mr Tony Joel who has notched up two rides over the weekend totalling 155.5km. That’s pretty cool and a good effort for the weekend however it’s gets better. Tony has now passed the 1000km target on Day 18 of the 31 day challenge. Outstanding effort. 👏 👏 👏 🥂
For all our Grover’s 4000 supporters your donations have inspired us all, we have not and will not let you down on our way to 4000km. Who knows even that target may be increased just like the fundraising goals we have changed regularly given your generosity.
Some interesting Stats:
Murray - 12 Rides, longest ride 122k, 235km to go.
Tony - 20 Rides, longest ride 121km, hit the target 1000km on Day 18.
Liam - 11 Rides, longest ride, 102km, 376km to go.
Matt - 14 Rides, longest ride 128km, 123km to go.
TOTAL - 57 Rides for 3272.1km
728km to go for the Grover’s 4000km target.
Now the best part:
Fundraising Stats - Number of Sponsors 236
Current National Ranking 14th
Total funds raised - $18,234.91
Last Wednesday the GCC 2020 had a generous donor that matched up to 68% of all contributions made on that day. We received an extra $1396.26 in donations to our totals from the double up day. Well done to you all.
So - that’s a wrap for the Grover’s 4000 team after Day 18. It’s been amazing so far to receive so much support and to have contributed over $18,000 so far to the Medical Research for Kids fighting Cancer is unbelievable.
We cannot thank you guys enough, you have inspired us all to ride like the wind and smash this challenge. Help us now pass the magical $20,000 figure by spreading our message to your family, friends and colleagues.
Thank you and talk to you wonderful people in a few days.
Matt on behalf of Liam, Tony and Murray.
Grovers 4000 towards 20k.
We have hit the half way mark, and it’s fair to say we are helping to kick cancers butt.
The team - Liam, Tony, Murray and yours truly are in full flight and have amassed 2708.5km of the 4000 total.
Tony - 823.9km Complete
Liam - 511.0 Complete
Murray - 624.2km Complete
Matt - 749.4km Complete
In the best news ever and the whole reason behind our teams pedalling prowess we have altered our goal from $10,000 to $15,000 and because our supporters have been so generous we have now passed $18,000 bucks.
That my friends is UNBELIEVABLE.
We even had a feature article in the Geelong Advertiser which was great publicity for the GCC 2020.
Every time we put our bum on the seat, every km we ride, every turn we take, every hill we climb, every puncture we endure, every fall (only me 😉) we have, every mongrel that we encounter that’s hates cyclists, every bloody magpie that swoops is all well and truly worth it to support these little battlers fighting this disease. it’s worth it because we have had an amazing amount of support through generous donations.
You guys rock.
Did I think we would get $10,000 - YES
Did I think we could get $20,000 - NO
So - let’s do this, please keep spreading the word to your family, friends and fellow workers and tell them about the Grover’s 4000 team and what are goals are and what the challenge is about.
It’s not about Matt, Liam, Murray or Tony, it’s all about the $$$$ and contributing as much as we can do ensure the future is as bright as possible for our little champions.
Thank you - So much.
Matt - Liam - Tony - Murray
We are now one week into the challenge and what a great start. Clicked over $13,000 in funds raised now and we have notched almost 1300km completed of the 4000 target after just seven days.
It’s been a big start, we have Liam our night rider clicking Ks in the dark, we have Sienna and Lucas pushing their old man to his limits and Murray who is trying to equal the amount of kilometres he puts into each of his 🚲 🚲 🚲 🚲 🚲 🚲.
As for me, to say I am surprising myself is an understatement, seven days in, 400 on the board, survived a fall and some nice bruising to show for it and luckily I am feeling good.
We are riding and getting it done purely because of the generous support you all have shown towards the fight for Kids Cancer.
We want the total to keep climbing so please please spread the word amongst your family and friends and encourage them to donate.
All we need now is the rain and the wind to bugger off for a few days / weeks and we will smash this goal.
Thanks again to each and everyone of our supporters and Kids fighting Cancer donors.
We are the riders - you are the rockstars.
Matt Flapper on behalf of Tony. Liam and Murray.
Out and about on a beautiful Sunday morning with the boys. A nice trek to Torquay and back, final preparations before next Thursday 1st October when our Grover’s 4000km gets underway.
We can’t thank our generous donors/supporters enough with our current total close to $10,000.
My individual fundraising goal was $5k and sits now at over $6k which is amazing and mind blowing and I and our team are so very grateful however I am going for gold and announcing its now 10k.
We will change our team goal to 15k. 😉
Can it be done?
Well if you good people can continue to spread the word and encourage people to jump on board with us then of course it can.
Any promotion of our ride and exposure of the cause can only help generate public interest. It’s not about Matt, Tony, Liam or Murray or Grover’s 4000 it’s all about the kids.
Giving our next generation every opportunity in life that they deserve.
It’s all about the kids.
Let’s do this - together we achieve more.
Tony Joel, Liam Power, Murray Noonan
All aboard this morning for a Sunday Session. Grovers 4000 turning out 50km each.
Kitted out in our new Grover’s 4000 jersey. Looking the part and gearing up for October. A big thank you to Ann Maree at Coastal Uniforms Ocean Grove. What a great job.
A big shout out thus far to our generous supporters, you guys have given us every reason to be ready to tackle the 1000km each. Please continue to spread the word to your family and friends and encourage them to join us for the fight for Cancer.
Thanks again and stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to our starting date.
