Today ends my 1200km ride which I set out to raise $1000 for kids cancer research. It also marks a remarkable month when Elowen came home. I ended up riding 1250km and raising $1360. Elowen also had her first trip away this weekend with her mum & dad with no more leads/tubes. A truely remarkable recovery after 5-6months in Queensland Children's Hospital. I wanted to thank everyone for there support and I think I'll be back next year. Stay tuned.
1204km in 4 weeks. Raised $1361 Kids Cancer. Thanks to everyone and especially John who rode with me. To coincide with this day Elowen has had her last cannula coming out last night. What a ride. I will be riding Ducats hill to finish things off with John Friday. Stay tuned for the last ride.
Day 23 - What a great week. $1361 raised. Thanks everyone for your help. 45km today. Passed 1060km/1200km with 8 days to go. 7500m climbing also. Nice ice coffee to start the day.
Day 17 marked 800km/1200km today but best of all it was the first time in 6 months I’ve been able to cuddle and play with Elowen. Love You Little Chicken
Today in my Great Cycle Challenge, any donation for kids cancer research is matched. Help kids be kids. Elowen over the last week becoming a kid. I'm now over 50% of 1200km.
OMG that was hard going, 108km 2000m of climbing but means I've completed 558km/1200km now. Sorry no photo at end as I was shattered and had to call for Christine to give me lift home but all done with my friend John.
Day 10 - Rest day today as tomorrow I ride Robbies McEwens Granfondo 107km 2000m of climbing with John. Big challenge riding up Springbrook and Beechmont. Fingers crossed I make the distance.
Day 7 - Elowen leaves hospital & a family comes home. What a journey so far for our brave little chicken. I can't describe our happiness. Thanks for everyones support. 345km/1200km completed easy ride with John.
Another big day with ride through the cane fields Nth NSW and back up Tomewin. Body is a bit stressed but keeping things together. 250km /1200km done last 4 days. Elowen is about to come home from hospital after 5 months and we are so excited.
Morning hill ride with the Roulettes and friend Scott. 10km last night warm down. Need to recover for tomorrows ride with Surfers Paradise Triathlon Club.
What a great morning to knock off another 40km with my friends Peter, Dave and Greg. Let's knock off cancer for kid's so people like Elowen below can have the life they deserve. Elowen was also into things learning to walk this week at Children's Hospital. Go Elowen.
What a start to the 1200km with easy ride along the beach with my friend John. Elowen is still in hospital with lung infection and trying hard to shake so she can come home.
The last 1-3 weeks have been rollercoaster ride for Elowen in the Queensland's Children's Hospital. Finishing her last chemo, learning to stand, having 2 operations on her central line and her 1st birthday. This is one Brave Little Chicken and I'm going to do by best to ride 1200km supporting children's cancer research in October. Love you chicken and keep fighting.
