I would like to thank the beautiful people who donated to my cause, I reached my goal in funds raised and went over, the k's were a bit over done in my estimation of what I could achieve, but if it weren't for the days when riding a bike were not on due to hectic winds and driving rain, then maybe I could and would have reached the 500 km goal set. Still, due to me own problems, I'm very happy with the 327 odd k's done overall.
I hope all of you will consider being my sponsor again next year. Until then, keep well and please, keep me in mind for next years ride in 2021.
Well, today is the last day of the Great Cycle Challenge for 2020, and as my health dictated I think 500 kms was a bit more than I could manage this year, due to my Osteoarthritis in both my knees, they seemed to yell out enough when 19 kms came around, just had no energy left in them to up and down the pedals, so limping back home it averaged 20 kms a day, which I'm going to try to better next year by continuing to ride, as the specialist has told me it's worth my while to do so.
I need to get out and around the Tuncurry/Forster shops and businesses next year and see if they can give me a bit more of a lift in my total raised, as I wanted to get to $3000.00 this year, but looks like it will stall at $2300.00 but I'm happy with that as it's the cash that is the important part of this GCC, not the cycling, but some think that it is a must that I reach the nominated kilometerage which is not the case, it's just a fun thing to do to make sure we get out and about to qualify for the donations.
2021 next year, more cycling and more donations, and hopefully I will break the $17,000.00 mark raised in 8 years of my efforts in the GCC.
Well, the weekend was a washout, and it looks like the next week is going to be nothing but rain and wind. After trying to ride on Saturday and being blown over, I'm not going to damage myself or bike in this wind, nor get wet and miserable riding out in that mess. Oh well, $2006.00 is a good score, although I was hoping for $3000.00 this year. As usual, plenty of likes on my posts, but none bar one or two of those likes contributes to the total wanted....if all gave just $10.00 it would quickly get the total up, but they don't think about that, pity.
Next year again, I'll be riding to help those poor kids have a life without Cancer. Help me help them, please.
Oh gee, can't ride today, wind is so strong when I went to get on the bike it blew over with me on it. So, back inside where it's calm and will take a look all day just in case the wind dies down, but.....The weather we can't make do what we want with, just have to put up with the days without riding.
Well, after a few days rest and rec away from home in the bush, I'm back on the bike every day it's good enough to ride out in the wilds of Tuncurry/Forster. So far my knees only seem to work for and including 21.5 kms and then there is absolutely no energy left in them. But, hoping they can get a bit better with the more I ride, I venture on each day.
This brings me to you lot who are yet to donate, get your hands in your pockets and bring out your credit card and make a donation to help these poor kids hold out for a future without childhood cancer. Go on, but a sport and do something to help the up and coming generation of citizens. I know I'll be looked after in my twilight years on this earth, as I've tried to help kids live good lives without the threat of cancer for quite a few years already. Can you say that to those who will look after your well being in your twilight years?
My 1st days ride for 2020 and looking forward to seeing if I can reach a goal of $17,000.00 this year, as my knees are not real good and it hurts to pedal a bit more these days, but I think of those kids and that spurs me on. Please, think about those poor little boys and girls suffering from childhood cancer, please make a donation to help find cures for this insidious disease.
We have been given the opportunity of taking in sponsorship from July till end of October this year in the hope of raising funds to drive research deeper into a cure for Childhood cancers through Gene research as well.
You can use it as a tax deduction if over $2 - but hey, once a year is my quest for people to dig deep and give to this most worthy cause.
Early donations are allowed, it furthers the chance of raising much needed funds for childhood cancer research. Look at your purse or wallet and please help me help them.
I've been riding every morning for some months now to help my knees gain strength for replacement knees at the end of the year.
We will be moving to Tuncurry on 22 May 2020 to Crystal Waters over 55's to live. But, I'll be continuing to ride every day (of course, not in the rain) I can.
