Jess was diagnosed with high-risk acute lymphoblastic leukaemia on the 29th of March 2019.
She underwent intensive chemotherapy treatment to fight the disease and dealt with low blood counts that delayed treatment multiple times. Her body is particularly sensitive to chemotherapy.
11-year-old Jess is a bubbly, confident young lady who LOVES dancing, singing and athletics. She has four siblings and a beloved puppy called Manu.
And this girl has fought cancer with everything she’s got…
She’s now officially in remission, with tests showing no evidence of disease, but it’s far from the end of her cancer journey.
Her IV chemotherapy maintenance treatment has been extended for 3 extra months, meaning more 5-hour-long hospital chemo sessions. And overall, her maintenance treatment is set to continue until the end of May 2021.
This is necessary to keep her in remission and avoid relapse at all costs – her higher sensitivity to chemotherapy drugs means she may not be able to tolerate the treatment.
So, the fight continues, but if anyone can do it - it’s this tough cookie.
She’s endured so much, inspired so many and we know she’s going to keep KICKING CANCER’s BUTT.
Jess, we’re riding for you this October!
