Rose Molloy

Although you aren't physically with us, your love, compassion and kindness are a source of constant inspiration. You were always inclusive, accepting and non-judgemental and managed to cut through the noise that life can create to see the essence and goodness in all people. So many children were fortunate to have been in your care as a teacher and later the 'Fairy Godmother' to many more. We were the most fortunate kids of all as we could call you Mum...although not during school :-) You left an indelible mark on all who knew you. A gift that you have left me, is having the awareness when I'm challenged by circumstances, to stop, take stock and think 'What would Rose do?" and there is only ever one right answer to that question and it is to try and find the love in any situation.

My Story

27 Aug 2021

This October, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Cancer is the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia – over 600 children are diagnosed with cancer every year and sadly, 3 die every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

And so I am riding and raising funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support my challenge by making a donation through my fundraising page to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Thanks for your support.

Just completed 100k of my 200k challenge! What a beautiful evening bellbirds, whip birds and I wasn’t the only bush turkey 🦃 out there either.

I’m up for the next 100k to support the fight against kids cancer. Thanks to everyone who has supported my challenge which is insignificant compared to what kids living with this disease endure. Bring on the dust, mud and long climbs👊👍😃

A big day for hills today. A bit over 34k making a total so far of 55k completed. A beautiful day for a ride and we took the opportunity to go into the areas that I hadn’t ridden before. Both coach Gary and I had a couple of mechanical issues but managed to keep the wheels turning for the whole ride. Still chasing my fundraising target of $2500, so far $1734 raised. Thanks for your donations so far, it is such a wonderful cause. If you’re considering sponsoring my challenge, hold off until Wednesday October 13th, which has been called ‘kick cancers’ butt day’. An announcement just in from the Children’s Medical Research Institute that they are going to match any donations made on the 13th $ for $ up to $1,000,000👍😃. So if you make a donation to my challenge next Wednesday for say $50, the CMRI will donate $50 making the total donation $100. Have a great day and stay safe and happy

Finally logged my first ride of my 200k off road challenge in the ride to fight kids cancer. Despite a bit of a mechanical issue, managed to tick the boxes on 3 things…spending time with good friends, thanks coach Gary for the company, making it all the way up a steep, challenging technical section of single track called ‘snakes and ladders’ without putting a foot down for the first time and photographed a group of purple flowers that are only in a particular small area in the bush. Thanks again to the sponsorship team for your support…only 180k of dirt to go!

  • Butcher Bird's breakfast
    29 Sep 2021

Another day, another training ride. This morning I took a different road and was dive bombed by a nesting butcher bird. It felt like a branch had landed on my head and he/she managed to reach around and have a couple of cracks at my nose. It's a big target after all!
