I'm Riding For

For Robert and Sophie and all the kids and families touched by cancer

Yesterday I had a conversation with Miguel from "Canteen" It broke my heart, to learn that their are 55 children in Tasmania at the moment with Cancer, thank you to all who have donated, so far. I think Robert is out there helping me Shelley, I was cold and sweaty at 7am this morning on the road passed Woolmers estate clocking up kilometers ready for October.

My Story

7 Sep 2019

This October, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Because right now, cancer is the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia – over 600 children are diagnosed with cancer every year and sadly, 3 die every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

And so I am riding and raising funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support my challenge by making a donation through my fundraising page to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Together, we can save little lives.

Thanks for your support.

My Challenge

  • Thanks everyone,
    9 Nov 2019

There is no doubt without the support I have received from all of you who have donated I felt quite weary, in the last week; but was so encouraged by all your donations.

In Tasmania $153,862:93 has been raised and Australia wide $4,287,553:

yes thats right over $4mill dollars,,, I was able to achieve my target and rode 503K in October and raised $601.00 a little above my target.

    Thanks to one and all.

    Thanks everyone,

Hi Every one just in case your are wondering I have been "stepping out " or peddling out as it were with My New TRIKE; yes , I am riding Tony's old Magnum, which is a new one for me. The engineering is superb, It is an aluminium Greenspeed Magnum, I have affectionately named it Maggie'

The Trike is a delight to ride. And I am steadily building kilometers for the challenge in October, Please consider sponsoring me for a cent or two for each kilometer I ride, in October. The proceeds go straight to help prevent cancer.

My name is Colin Desmond Cocker. Over the past twelve months I have constructed a Recumbent Trike known as the Weekend Warrior.

I now ride my Trike for fun, and to keep fit, as I will be 69 next b/day.

I spent the last 11 years of my working life as an HA on The paliative Care unit in Hobart. Our son in law Robert past last Feb. from cancer. We have two people in our own family with cancer. So I have decided now to ride my Trike to raise funds to help eradicate this dreadful disease of Cancer and to support the children and families who suffer so much.
