My Story

This October, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Because right now, cancer is the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia – over 600 children are diagnosed with cancer every year and sadly, 3 die every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

And so I am riding and raising funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support my challenge by making a donation through my fundraising page to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Together, we can save little lives.

Thanks for your support.

  • Cancer is not
    18 Oct 2019

Childhood Cancer is not an “excuse” for work of uni

Childhood Cancer is not “a holiday”

Childhood Cancer is not easier when it’s “the good one“

Childhood Cancer is not “bald kids”

Childhood Cancer is not “A blip in the road”

    Childhood Cancer is

    - needles... many many needles. In the arms, hands, feet, chest, back

    - drugs... horrible, nauseating, hunger inducing, psychosis inducing

    - missed days at school, work, with family, with friends

    - isolation from a normal childhood

    - years of follow up

    - lost friends

These kids are amazing. They are strong. They are fearless. They are gentle and kind. They get scared. They cry. They feel all the emotions of those around them. They are confused. They are kids. They are inspirational.

Miss liz was so proud to receive her Great Cycle Challenge jersey and did her first ride in it today. Thank you for all your donations. She rides in hope there will be more kids one day able to ride along side her.

  • Team rides are... hard... fun... challenging
    10 Oct 2019

When your team is made up of:

    - one fit man

    - one tired woman

    - one child with sore legs and

    - one child with four legs

I gentle afternoon ride can become a little bit more than you bargained for.

We pushed through and it was worth it in the end to heat littlest team member say “mum, I tried so hard”... and she has tried hard. She tried hard to get up and over that hill and kick cancers butt.

  • First ride
    6 Oct 2019

October got off to a slow start between work and planning a birthday party for miss 7. So today James and I saddled up and knocked out 65km each!

Every week we will ride on behalf of a child who has heard a doctor say “I’m sorry, it’s cancer”. This week we have ridden on behalf of Lizzie, the same special seven year old in our lives whose birthday we celebrated yesterday. Lizzie was diagnosed with ALL when she was 2yrs old. Now, 5 years down the track, those words seem like a lifetime ago.

Research into the treatment for Lizzie’s particular cancer made her prognosis good. But sometimes the treatment can cause as much harm as it does good. So further funding into childhood cancer treatment is vital and your donations are still very much needed!

If you can’t donate please consider joining our team and adding your kilometers to our board...
