My Story

This October, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Because right now, cancer is the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia – over 600 children are diagnosed with cancer every year and sadly, 3 die every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

And so I am riding and raising funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support my challenge by making a donation through my fundraising page to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Together, we can save little lives.

Thanks for your support.

    31 Oct 2021

After 15 bike-filled days, yesterday I passed the 400km ride target for the Great Cycle Challenge (with a whole day and a half to go)! Finishing up on 432km for the month is pretty satisfying given the riding didn’t start until mid-October because of a foot ailment (and the fact that I had ridden a total of 381km in the whole year up until the end of September)!

A special shout out to: the two fly by warnings and five direct hits by local magpies; the two sacrificed derailleurs (for Fed and Pele); the one front flip over the handle bars (for Hayley); and the non-rainy weather.

A more serious thanks to my partner Hayley who effectively matched all my rides, added in some solid adventuring to the courses we took and helped make it such a fun time. Thanks also to the other support riders in the ‘peloton’ for making it a grand old time, and providing an excellent excuse to eat unhealthy food post-rides – Jose, Pele, Federico, Elizabeth, Brett, Emily, Michaela and Elizabeth. Kudos also to Twigg for joining us on the windiest 30 minute stint of the whole month, and then not partaking in any unhealthy food consumption.

Special thanks also to those non-riders who drove to enjoy the post-ride unhealthy food – you know who you are 😉

Finally, thanks to everyone who donated! Overall, we have cracked the $2,000 mark in terms of money raised. This is well on the way to my goal of $2,500… and there is still time to donate
