I'm Riding For

Joseph Saad

To my beloved uncle, I dedicated last year's challenge to you, and I dedicate this one to you. Sometimes, I find myself reminiscing about our times together, and I am still reminded of you in one way or another. I love you. From your nephew, Tony.

My Story

4 Sep 2021

I'm Tony, an avid cyclist. This October, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Because right now, cancer is the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia – over 600 children are diagnosed with cancer every year and sadly, 3 die every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

And so I am riding and raising funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support my challenge by making a donation through my fundraising page to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Together, we can save little lives.

Thanks for your support.

  • I'm sorry...
    16 Oct 2021

    Hi all,

I have said I will be cycling today, but I had some homework blow up on me lately. Thus, I will not be cycling today. The good news is that there will definitely be more cycling next week, and I can still make up for the lost time. Again, I'm so sorry. I will keep you posted.

  • Communiqué #2: 2 Fast, 2 Exhausting!
    11 Oct 2021

    Hi everyone,

Here is a brief on my progress this month:

    Distance travelled: 30Km / 100Km

    Funds raised: $213.23 / $750

I recently cycled to the ABC where I volunteer, and then to the Uni on Victoria Square. It has been exhausting but surely liberating, as I weave between automobiles and road works under the lovely refreshing sun. Of course, I have been shedding litres of sweat, as you would. I also figured out what sartorial items suit cycling in the weather, which I wish I did sooner because I would've saved myself the sticky feel of being in an office without shower facilities for 7.5 hours.

Anyway, more on the upcoming journeys. I know cycling to the ABC and Uni will mean I conveniently complete most of my challenge goal. However, the weather forecast predicts that Thursday will be a terrible day for cycling, so I will postpone my journey till Saturday. Expect another communiqué for me in the next few days.

Thank you so much for your support. If you haven't donated yet, then please do so on this page. https://greatcyclechallenge.com.au/Riders/TonySaad

Once again, thank you so much for your support.

  • Communiqué #1: The Adventure Begins
    1 Oct 2021

    Hi everyone,

I want to thank you all for following and supporting me once again in the 2021 Great Cycle Challenge. The time has come for me to dust off my big red road bike, and get on the road again. This year, I aim to cycle 100 Kilometres throughout October, and raise $750 for the Children's Medical Research Institute.

I will update you all on the routes I will be taking, but one I will mention now is from my home to the ABC Building (where I volunteer for Channel 44), taking the train between Oaklands and the City. I also want to travel to different places around Adelaide, like the Mike Turtur Bikeway from the City to Glenelg (man was this a thrilling route, especially along Jetty Rd, Glenelg sharing the path with other cars and Trams!! -Sigh- I so want to do this again).

If you haven't donated yet, please do so in the link below. It all goes to a good cause. Oh, and don't forget to share said link, and spread the word about my cause.

Once again, thank you very much for your support, and I will see you in the next Communiqué.
