Well this weekend was meant to be out sailing ⛡️ for the end of Sydney’s Covid-19 🦠 Lockdown #3. Last weekend the engine went πŸ’₯ 😒

However, not one to waste a brilliant day out in the fresh air and β˜€οΈ I went on a ride from Mona Vale Beach to Church Point return which was a lovely ride. I’ve driven it millions of times but to ride at a leisurely pace and enjoy the scenery was a real treat

I then followed this up with a couple of laps of Narrabeen Lakes - Always a great ride πŸš΄πŸ»β€β™€οΈ on a nice sunny β˜€οΈ day.

Love the cool sea breeze and the smell of the fresh salt air.

  • Jacaranda River Ride 💜💜💜
    26 Oct 2021

This ride was for my mum who can’t get out and see the Jacarandas in full bloom right now. They are finally looking spectacular all along the Parramatta River Valley.

I was also fortunate enough not to be attacked by a group of magpies who rather sat and sang to me while I listened and watched. They played on the grass and drank from the bubbler, sharing their shenanigans with a couple of crows πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

Nice day to be out in the fresh air and sunshine enjoying nature πŸ’œ

Well Marge, the rains aren’t β€˜ere yet! So off I went Jacaranda Hunting πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ They are starting to get some colour and am sure hoping the rains when they eventually turn up don’t ruin their display before I get to see them in all their glory.

On another note, I had resigned myself to the fact I was not worthy of being swooped by a magpie like all the other riders when ….. nek minut!

  • Beat the Rains Rose Garden Ride 🌧🌧
    20 Oct 2021

With rain predicted for about a week I went for a quick ride this morning before the black clouds opened up. Parramatta Rose Garden is looking & smelling spectacular at the moment. A few big drops of rain sent me scurrying for cover while I put my rain jersey on only to stop a few minutes later. The sun came out, the rain jersey came off and I continued on down the river. Not game to venture as far as usual but it was a lovely ride anyway. Lockdown must be over. The cycle path has been lonely the past couple of rides compared to the last 18 months πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘

Thank you all once again for your amazing support! You guys certainly get me out riding in days when it would be easy to stay inside β€œin case” it rains ! β™₯️

Thank goodness lockdown is over - a hair cut is long overdue βœ‚οΈ βœ‚οΈ βœ‚οΈ

  • Gorgeous Spring Ride after Work
    17 Oct 2021

After spending all day at work longing to be out in the gorgeous fresh air, blue skies & sunshine β˜€οΈ I came home, the weather didn’t change, as it so often does and I got a lovely 17km Parramatta River ride in. So thankful that I have this river to ride along. The salt air on the light breeze was so invigorating!

Unfortunately, whilst my head said β€˜ your outside, go for a ride, you don’t have to be home until dark’ , my back and legs said β€˜what were you thinking numbnut? We have worked all day and haven’t recovered from your last ride yet!’

Despite this it was a lovely evening ride with the moon coming up over the river πŸŒ™

110 km done and only halfway through the month πŸš΄πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸš΄πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸš΄πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸš΄πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Thank you all so much for inspiring me and supporting the researchers to help the kids lead better lives β™₯️β™₯️β™₯️

  • Great Day for the Ducks 🦆 β˜”οΈ
    15 Oct 2021

Most of you are probably thinking I am a fair weather rider, and you would be right to do so 😎 β˜€οΈ πŸš΄πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Kids fighting cancer don’t get to choose the easy route so today after I turned up at work only to find out I wasn’t rostered on, I went home and decided to take a gamble 🎲 on the weather holding out.

Turns out I won ….. twice πŸ™Œ I had a ride down the Parramatta River where I got slightly damp about 5 km before I got back to the car then the sun came back out so I drove down to Bicentennial Park and rode another 10 km before making it back to the car just as some half arsed tornado πŸŒͺ thing tried to take me out again!! I got home dry, intact and bike was in the shed before the rain came tumbling down for the second time πŸ€ πŸ€ πŸ€

  • Great day for Sailing
    5 Oct 2021

Well thought I'd get a few more km down before I'm back to work tomorrow!

It was a great day for the storm jib and all reefs in the main!! I managed 20 km but it was very hard going although I won't complain because the kids do it tougher than this for day after day and week after week. I was just uncomfortable for a bit over an hour!!!

My bike blew over while I was trying to take a photo of it. I left my water bottle on the bridge where I was trying to take another photo. I didn't realize until i got back to the car and decided to drive the 10 km back to see if it was still there - and it was !!! Thanks Covid !

I had a few stops and chats with some lovely people who came up to me which was refreshing after the isolation of the last 3 months.

A couple of much better cyclists than me wished me "enjoy your ride" - Thanks guys, but enjoy is not quite the word I'd use for todays ride.

I didn't enjoy the ride but I enjoyed all that occurred around me :D

Looking forward to riding for the kids again when i next get the opportuntity.

Thank you everyone for having faith in me to deliver :):)

  • First Day of Summer ???
    4 Oct 2021

30C β˜€οΈ and 🌬 but finally out for my first πŸš΄πŸ»β€β™€οΈ of the Challenge!! The spring blossoms are all but gone and the Jacarandas πŸ’œ haven’t yet made an appearance. The Parramatta River was spectacular again. Millions of kids out on bikes, scooters, and picnicking with their families. I am riding 150 km this month to raise research πŸ”¬ πŸ’΅ so that kids with cancer can be out of hospital living their best life like these kids.

Thank you so so much to all of you who have supported me and helped these kids.
