Some of you may have seen my social media posts so if that is the case – no need to read on, you’ve read it already 😊.. OH – apart from the final tally, it’s over $36,000 now and still growing thanks to late donations..

People who know me well know that I’m not one to blow my own trumpet, preferring to just work away at a task and get it done. But today is not that day as today I’m feeling very proud and full of gratitude for our social and business networks.

9 years ago, I saw a small post on social media about riding to raise funds in aid of finding a cure for Children’s Cancer. I was already commuting to and from work so thought why not do some good at the same time?? Fundraising alone I was pretty happy with the $900 I raised in 2013.

Fast forward 7yrs and I had a ally in the cause, together Guy Murray and I raised over $10,000 in 2019 and 2020 riding together and fundraising separately. But then we had a thought, what could we do with a whole team??

So, with 2021 a year of challenges and once again finding ourselves in a Melbourne lockdown twiddling our thumbs with what to do we pulled together a team of 11 riders and got to work.

Over the past month myself and my group of cycling MAMIL’s have been pushing the pedals in an effort to raise as much money in aid of Research into Children’s Cancer. Through rain, wind, punctures and covid tests we set out to ride 10,000km with the help of many a coffee.

Well, thanks to all our supporters and friends and 11,0000kms later we’ve achieved something much greater. $35,664.25!!

As a group we couldn’t be happier and as an individual I couldn’t be prouder. If there are any lessons to learn from this (which of course there are many) the big one has to be that you don’t have to do things alone, get a team and support network around you and you can achieve so much more.

And finally, to steal a line from the great Australian song writer in Paul Kelly – from little things big things grow. $900 in 2013 to $35,000 2021.

A truly heartfelt thanks from me to all who supported me throughout October. Who knows what next October might bring! I don’t but am certainly looking forward to it.

AND donations are still open for any late support 😉

It's about the only word I can think if right now. WOW! WOW! WOW!

What an amazing group of friends, family and colleagues we have. Currently I'm filled with so much gratitude towards you all.

What an amazing effort yesterday. Once the donations had been calculated and doubled by WINC as a major supported yesterday alone we raised approximately $20,000

    WOW!

Huge thank you to all of you who have donated bit or small. Amazing.

Now we must get back to riding and finish what we have committed to.

    30 Sep 2021

Well one more sleep.. We have a good contingent starting this year for the first 'Team' event for the GCC. A couple of seasoned campaigners in myself and Guy will guide the newbies through. I feel some of them may look to up their distance goals over the month of October so a bit of encouragement or incentives from their supporters could assist in this 😉 such as a donation carrot.

Individual donation pages are here in case you are looking to donate to an individual.

  • An Introduction - TdBH Cancer Busters is born
    17 Aug 2021

Hi All - Juzzy hear. A little over 8 years ago I started a small journey in fundraising for research into children's cancer. Already commuting to work 5 days a week and clocking up the km's a little post came across my social media with information on raising funds while riding. Sure I thought, why not? So I signed up and a tradition was started.

Fast forward 5yrs and all of a sudden I had a companion in GuMu (Guy). Together we rode and separately we raised; collecting over $10,000 in our first year and doubling down the year after that for the CMRI.

That brings us to the now and what started as a small fund raising effort is getting bigger! We are in the midst of the COVID pandemic and a bit of flexible time so why not try and make a bigger impact than an individual can? We could all do with a bit more positivity in our lives right now. Let's create a team and go LARGE!

And that readers is what lands you here.

We've been on a recruitment drive which also means we needed a team page. And a Team Name. Poor thought process by me in setting up the team means where we could have been TdBH Cancel Cancer is instead TdBH Cancer Busters was the first thought, just not the same ring to it but hey, it's not about the name now is it? And it's really NOT THAT BAD! Don't judge me for it and definitely don't penalise me for it.

So here we are and if you've stumbled across this page by accident by all means drop a few dollars in the donation jar. If you are hear to support one of our team members, thanks for visiting. Donate here or head over to their own individual page and donate there. It still goes to our over all total but then also hits their individual goal.

Finally - look out for us during the month of October or even better, if you want to come out for a ride all are welcome. It's more than likely we'll shout you a coffee and a Lemon Curd Muffin. Who could resist that!

Thanks for reading but even more so, thanks for the donations!!!!

This October, TdBH Cancer Busters is taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Because right now, cancer is the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia – over 600 children are diagnosed with cancer every year and sadly, 3 die every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

And so we are riding and raising funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support our challenge by making a donation through our fundraising page to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Together, we can save little lives.

    Thanks for your support.
