Event Details

A lap of LBG from Kingston Foreshore to Kingston Foreshore, after work every Thursday for the whole of October (3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, and 31st) weather permitting.

Any type of bike, comfortable pace (or it will kill me otherwise) - usually with a short break at the far Western end. Generally takes about an hour and a half, and is just short of 30kms.

Meet on the gravel path at the point indicated in the photo where the path exits the car park - there’s plenty of parking for those who drive here first. The address given is just roughly the location.

If you join this ride you do so at your own risk.

Hi Trent, just letting you know I won’t make it on this Thursday’s ride as I had hope, as my dad is visiting. Will be away next week but if you are riding on the 31st, I hope to be there.

All good. Today is on a bit of a weather alert anyway. If the track will be wet I may move the ride to tomorrow; but I realise that won’t help your availability. Have a great time with your Dad - family always comes first in my book.

So 17:00 start.

What's the direction of travel?

Sunset at 6:07

So that’s probably getting pretty dark by 6:30

Estimating 1.5 hours for this first lap, so maybe best to go counter-clockwise so we have the best lit parts at the end of the ride.

I usually finish work around 5.30. I may just RV with you guys somewhere along the ride or catch up.

Ok. I’ll make this one 5:00 after I make sure I can knock off early that day.

Jenny, Cutting the trip short can be done by coming back across Kings for a quite short ride, or Commonwealth for around a 12km ride. Don’t risk straining a wrist injury, cut as short as you want and we will take this first one a bit gentle just to get back into it if this is your first ride in while. It’s not a race, so we can go as easy as necessary.

Thanks Trent. I'll be riding to the meeting point from the National Library, and also catching the tram home, so will probably leave you at Commonwealth Ave and head to the tram.

I did a couple of test rides on the weekend, and they were ok, as long as I took it easy. As I say, we'll see what the physio says.

Got the go ahead from the physio last night (and his handywork made today's bike/tram work commute possible!), so I'll join you for the stretch from Kingston to the Commonwealth Bridge.

Miscalculated when daylight savings started. We may not have time to get this one done by dark, so might go anti-clockwise so the last part is through the best lit areas. Perhaps have lights just in case.

Alternatively I can make this one start at 5:00 just to give more time, but that might affect people getting off work in time. Let me know what you think.

If I come along (which I hope to) 5pm would work a bit better for me but can still do 5.30 if it works for others. So does anti-clockwise. I will only be able to do part of it anyway, as I am only able to do short rides at present. Sporting a wrist injury. Seeing the physio today and hope to do my first ride tomorrow, so will know more about whether Thursday is going to be possible.

I am flexible I will just change what time I leave work. Might be best to pull it forward just to cover the lighting, but we are already getting the light a little later in the evening anyway. Happy to go either way also.
