My Story

This October, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Because right now, cancer is the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia – over 600 children are diagnosed with cancer every year and sadly, 3 die every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

And so I am riding and raising funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support my challenge by making a donation through my fundraising page to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Together, we can save little lives.

Thanks for your support.

  • Targets reached
    24 Oct 2018

Today I hit my 500km target distance and almost 2 weeks ago I reached my $500km target. Today I also ran into and spoke to another rider out riding with a GCC jersey on. It's the first time I've spoken to someone in a GCC jersey. Great seeing other cyclists around and even better when they are helping out the GCC cause.

It was also the longest ride I've done this month and the longest ride so far this year.

  • Almost done
    23 Oct 2018

I've almost hit my 500km target. I gave up the hope days ago of making the 1000km like I did last year. Some soreness has cost me 2 days as well as 3 days of rain pretty much made it a distance too far.

I was excited today to see a fellow GCC rider riding around my area with a GCC jersey on.

  • Still pedalling
    12 Oct 2018

I hit my target goal of raising $500 yesterday thanks to a number of donors as well as the 4 corporate sponsors who did the donation matching.

Would love to get 100km of riding over the weekend as there's some wet weather expected early next week.

  • Friends and family
    1 Oct 2018

I haven't been affected by anyone in the immediate family who has had cancer. I have however had a cousin lose his life to childhood cancer, 2 aunts to cancer, 1 uncle and my wife lost a cousin by marriage. I have also had a number of friends either beat or are still battling cancer. I have had 1 friend who died recently from cancer after battling for a number of years. Kids in particular should never have to face the evil of cancer. I am joining thousands of cyclists Australia wide who are trying to raise funds to help research into cures for childhood cancer.
