My Story
After busting my femur in a heavy cycling fall at Christmas I have been sluggish to get going again - so this October, for the extra motivation I obviously need, I am going to ride 1,000 km in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer with a goal of raising $10 for every km I ride.
Cancer is the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia. Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
So, please dig deep and support my challenge by making a donation through my fundraising page to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

A huge thank you
29 Oct 2023I am very pleased to report that I passed the 1,000km mark with a day to spare after a little hit out to La Perouse this morning which was required due to no riding on the weekend as we were away for my niece Aimee’s beautiful wedding at Caves Beach.
Even more pleased to report that our fundraising total has surpassed the revised target of $20,000! Roisin you are fabulous 😊
Thank you to everyone who has donated to the cause over the month and/or offered encouragement and support. A few years ago 1,000km in a month would not have been such a big deal. But the passage of time, and a broken femur last Christmas from a heavy cycling fall meant it was quite the challenge. And a lack of many opportunities for longer rides meant needing to ride on a lot of days.
A happy bonus from the challenge has been regaining my love of the bike which I must admit had waned quite a bit thanks to the titanium rods, plates and screws holding my leg together after the fall.
Special thanks to Terry Tyrell and Max Song for clocking up some miles with me. Reminded me also of how much fun it is to be out pushing each other to go faster.
Looking forward to riding with you both and also with my old crew again soon.

Taking a day off after a solid four days
22 Oct 2023Time for a day off - well off the bike at least - after a solid four days clocking up 282km. A solo 42km Thursday, solo 60km Friday, joined for half my 80km on Saturday by work colleague Max Song, and then a bloody enjoyable 100km on Sunday drafting industry colleague Terry Tyrell for a lot of the way. Our fund raising effort is close to $20,000 now thanks to everyone’s generous support.

Saddle sore Saturday
20 Oct 2023Punched out 80km today down to Cronulla for a beautiful sunrise to bring total ridden closer to the 1,000km goal. Just 220km to go now. Joined by work colleague Max Song for about 40km of the ride - nice to have some company. Thanks Max. I’ll be up and at it again tomorrow I guess! 😬🤦♂️🤣
