I'm Riding For
Gilbert Lammens
My dad Gilbert Lammens died of leukaemia in 2011. He was the one who got me into cycling and to so much else besides. His wandering spirit is the reason I search out new places on the bike. Whilst it's tragic that my dad died of this form of cancer, after 72 years he told me he had had a good and full life. Childhood cancer robs people of their whole life before it's even really started. A tragedy for them, their families, and friends.
My Story
This October, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!
It is very sad to think that cancer is the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia – over 600 children are diagnosed with cancer every year and 3 die every week.
This is such a tragedy for people so young who are just starting their life's journey. My dad died of leukemia at the age of 72 - too young! Whilst he was not a child in age, he was a child in spirit - coming to Australia, always searching for adventure and new places.
And so I am riding and raising funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer.
Please support my challenge by making a donation through my fundraising page to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve. Together, we can save little lives!

PS: Below are some riding km stats for the last few years. The 2023 data is correct, but the years over 1500km are completely wrong! I think it might be re-duplicating from previous years!
