Dear Team Emily,
On behalf of Emma, Brodie, and our family, we would like to thank you for your incredible work over the past three weeks.
When one of our wonderful riders, Reg, had the idea of setting up #TeamEmily, we weren't sure how many team members we would be able to recruit. We cautiously set our fundraising goal at $10,000 and our riding goal at 5000 kms.
Three weeks later, we have raised over $50,000 and cycled an amazing 11,832 kms!!! As a result of your tireless work, endless endurance, and steadfast commitment to the cause, we are currently Number #1 on the National Leader Board (a position we've retained since our incredible donations were matched by CMRI's sponsors).
More importantly, every dollar you have raised, and every kilometre you have pedalled, has honoured Emily by keeping her memory alive and by celebrating her legacy: to face each battle bravely, and to always be fierce, fearless, and free.
Brodie would often take Emily riding on the back of his bike, while Emma watched on, laughing as they sped past, waving, and egging them on. When Emily was sick, she loved to zoom around the Oncology ward on her tricycle. You would often hear racing around the ward, shouting, "Faster, Faster!"
As you know, we are on the home stretch now. With one week to go, we have updated our fundraising goal to $55,000.
If we hit this target, we will have surpassed the amount of money raised by last year's winning team!

Emily passed away on Thursday, August 24 in the arms of her loving parents and family.
Emily was a kind, clever, and sassy little girl who showed amazing strength and resilience through her treatment for neuroblastoma. 💜
Her journey was one of incredible determination and love, guided by the endless support of her family, friends, and the wider community. ✊
Sadly, Emily developed a rare infection during her bone marrow transplant. The infection travelled to her brain and caused an aneurysm.
Emily would have overcome this infection if she was not immunocompromised from the high-dose chemotherapy that she received during treatment.
She died cancer-free.
Rest in peace, dear Emily. You will always be remembered and deeply missed.
