My Story

4 Sep 2019

This October, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Because right now, cancer is the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia – over 600 children are diagnosed with cancer every year and sadly, 3 die every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

And so I am riding and raising funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support my challenge by making a donation through my fundraising page to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Together, we can save little lives.

Thanks for your support.

Very much outside my comfort zone - I surprised myself by smashing my targets, both kilometres and money raised. I did it all by myself. I toured part of South Australia and Victoria’s coastline and finished my targets in my new home town of Devonport. Just my Tilly, e-b and me. My Tilly is my 1990 Mitsubishi Triton Ute with a roof top camper. My e-b was my recently deceased cancer victim husband Gaz’s. Riding that bike pulled me out of my mourning burrow that I has sheltering in during last years 1st challenge. I had recently made a downsize sea change and decided to escape the renovations. So off we set - Tilly, e-b and me. I returned to Tassie to finish my challenge and was also reunited with my now best mate Oakie. We finished the challenge together. Now we can both settle into our new home and life together. I especially want to thank all my beautiful sponsors and to give my best to every sick child, especially those suffering from Cancer. Little kids grow into big kids so I also want to wish Rosie the very best health as she undergoes treatment for recently diagnosed leukaemia. Thank you and be positive everyone xx Chris Sutton

Lots of hard work whilst travelling. Thinking back - makes me feel tired - not as young as I used to be. Anyway I made both challenges. Big thank you to all my sponsors especially Kentish Lions Club. Without you all to support and encourage me - I could not have done it. Little kids need our encouragement too thank you

Finally managed a lovely ride from Robe to Boatswain and return. Still a little on the cool side and always seemed to be riding into a head wind. Still a good challenge and for a good cause. Thank you all my sponsors 💕💕

59k ride today. Finished riding and exploring around Victor Harbour/Goolwa. Rode out 6k if beach to nearly mouth of Murray river. Because if sand dredging the beach started getting very soft and not much beach to ride on anyway. Saw the mouth yesterday on a Coorong Cruise so am happy.

Hard to leave this area as it is such a beautiful place and the weather was perfect. Onwards Eastwards.

Have been touring around Vic n Sth Aust. Camping but with Gaz’ ebike on board

I have been earning a few early kilometre credits just in case ....

    Grampions 11.5k

Strathalbyn. 11.5 and McLaren Valley to Glenelg return - 67.5k. I will confess that as my bike battery dwindled and so did my energy- I caught at train for part of my return journey. All secrets aside - I am not as young as I used to be and I too struggle with 100% health. Forgive me

Off to Kangaroo Island to do some touring but my bike now has a full battery
