Disregarding the Redlands Fracture Unit doctor, who recommended it was time I give outdoor cycling away; I’m gearing up again to take on my eighth Great Cycle Challenge.

This year’s preparation has included another TKR (Total Knee Replacement), so I now have the added advantage of having two bionic knees to propel me toward my targets of riding 400 kilometres and raising $2,500. And it's all in support of the Children’s Medical Research Institutes (CMRI) quest to end childhood cancer and save little lives. Just in case I break down and need an Uber to get home, I've also acquired a folding bike.

Your inspiring encouragement has enabled me to cycle 6,575 kilometres in my first seven Challenges and with your fantastic support, I’ve managed to raise $25,228.03.

The body is creaking a little more each year but inspired by the magnificent inroads that the CMRI is making in the fight against Childhood Cancer, I’m continuing ride on, as long as I can, to support these brave little Kids and their families, in the battle they face every day in their terrible fight. Cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in Australia. Every 2 minutes, a child is diagnosed with cancer. Kids should be living life, NOT fighting for it.
