I'm Riding For

Archie

Archie

My wife's niece's son, Archie, had a brain tumour at around 13 months old. No one should have to have a brain tumour operation but at such a young age it is not ideal. He is doing well now, and still requires ongoing treatment but after nearly 10-years he always has a great smile. His resilience is testament to ongoing research. Let's see if we can help prevent such occurrences and put smiles on everyone!

My Story

30 Sep 2023

This October, for the 11th year, I am again taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

My challenge commences on Sunday, 1 October 2023. Hopefully, rain won't be an impediment to riding, this year. I am not keen to ride in the rain!

Thanks for your support last 10 years which, has been truly appreciated.

Why am I doing this? Because, right now, cancer is still the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia – over 600 children are diagnosed with cancer every year and sadly, 3 die every week!

When I was younger our neighbour's daughter died, from a brain tumour, at 10 years old. Then just 10 years ago, my wife’s niece’s son, had an operation to remove a brain tumour; he was only 13 months old. The good news is that he is still with us, which is tremendous but he needs ongoing treatment. That he is still with us is testament to the worth of ongoing research.

What I am doing is nothing compared to what these kids face every day of their lives as they battle this terrible disease, in the various forms it can occur.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it!

And so I am riding and raising funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Please, if you can, support my challenge by making a donation through my fundraising page to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Together, we can save little lives.
