This October, I’m once again taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge, an event where I will ride as many kilometres as I can throughout the course of the month. All funds raised from the Challenge will be used to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and search for a cure for childhood cancer - the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia, with over 600 children diagnosed with cancer every year, and which sadly claims the life of 3 kids every week.
I’ve set myself the task of 1,500km for the month. Given work travel commitments will mean there’s at least 8 days where I can’t ride, this equates to 65km per day for the other 23 days... if I ride every day! No doubt there will be plenty of very early morning starts, and possibly even a few “night rides” (starting before 4am!) to ensure I meet the target.
